As this is a club, the door fee does differ from night to night, and the usual listings can be found on the venue's website, with regular Monday, Tuesday and Friday nights. As they have a 24 hour license, they do host private or special club nights, and FUNK ME I'M A VIRGIN was most definitely one of these.
With standard tickets starting at £5 and VIP tickets at £20, with the line-up of big urban funky house DJs, this definitely was a steal for the funky skankers out there. I arrived at about 11, and the venue was already pretty busy, with hoards of people waiting in the queue outside, eager to get inside to the music. Once inside, I was quite amazed at how big the place is - not surprising with capacity of 800 in the den alone and 275 for the rest of the venue. But it still seemed bigger because it was far from standard in it's layout.
There were bowls of candy for people to help themselves to which was definitely useful for the well needed sugar enegry boost with a lineup of the following:DJ's
MARCUS "AYIA NAPA" NASTY, KID N PLAY, GUMBO, FLAVA, LIVE LINQ, INVASION CREW, RAW VYBES, CAMEO, TOP BOYS, DEEJAY KRAMER, DUN DEAL, DOCTA COSMIC & FATZ, LOVE CONNEXION
HOST's
GRACIOUS "NAPA MAN" K, RISKGO, KAOS, MC VERSATILE, CREEPA, "TRIBAL MAN" MAGZ, CHARMZ, SHARKY, FUNKY DEE

FUZZY LOGIK & EGYPT - IN IN THE MORNING
The promoters well and truly perfected this night, despite the last minute venue change from regular funky host "SOUND", there were one or two drinks offers - VK bottles and Fosters at £2.50, with double vodka mixers (excluding Red Bull) at £3.50. Pretty decent prices for a night in Central, you'd be hard stretched finding them somewhere else with the same calibre of DJs playing.
The dancefloor was understandably packed to the walls, with the funky skankers taking up their places right inside in front of the DJ booth. It was a great sight to see, you definitely felt like any money spent was not wasted... the turn out was great! Despite the title of the event, there were a couple of other urban styles thrown in so nobody was left out - the best of the best were picked, if you enjoy any form of urban music, this event would not have disappointed you in the slightest! Student funky house lovers were grateful to attend this event no doubt, although if you didn't come early enough it may have been harder to get in because it was well and truly a ROADBLOCK! If this is what we're going to be seeing from the promoters this summer, seriously... BRING IT ON.
My final point to make, as it will always be, was the crowd. Unsurprisingly what would be perceived as a "ghetto" or urban crowd, consisting of primarily black and bi-racial individuals, everyone was dressed to the nines, but there were also a substantial number of Asian people enjoying the event too. It's great to see a little more diversity in these events, hopefully it will keep growing - but I don't think the atmosphere was anything but fun, there were a few troublemakers, but all in all, everyone was just enjoying having their funky house fun. FUNK ME I'M A VIRGIN was a wild success in my eyes, partygoers were left practically melted and worn out - what more proof do you need that fun was had?If you wish to here about more events like this...
