No doubt that even before reading this post you will know about one of the "iconic deaths" I am referring to, but I'm not going to write the same old spiel about how Michael Jackson was a legend, how it's so amazingly sad he died... it's been played out by the media, and the sun hasn't even risen in England yet (therefore not even 6 hours have passed since it was reported).
BUT FIRST - let's get to poor Farrah Fawcett.
Actress Farrah Fawcett Dead at 62 - Celebrity Gossip | Entertainment News | Arts And Entertainment - FOXNews.com
Whether you know her by name or not, you will more than likely know about the legend that is Charlie's Angels. Farrah Fawcett was one of the main individuals who helped to make this show as big as it became and still is today, and even if you're not acquainted with the old series no doubt the newer films are are a recognisable to you. She was catapulted into the limelight during the 70's, also famous partly due to her amazing hair! Who doesn't remember the Farrah flick? If you don't... you better learn - girlies, everytime you flick those ends out, it's because of this lady. Cancer is a horrible disease, what a sad way to go - especially after the hopes of remission. Luckily she lived a fruitful life and entertained alot of people and will continue to do so for years to come - I hope she is remembered well, the beautiful blonde in the iconic red swimsuit - rest in peace.
And yes, of course... Michael Jackson passed today too.
Michael Jackson Dies - TMZ.com has become a legend on the internet tonight. Forget what you heard about Perez Hilton (and also the inaccuracy of all gossip blogs) - TMZ.com has proven itself to be ahead of the lot. First to report MJ's death, they sent the media world into a frenzy, leaving it and the general public pondering as to whether it was merely another blog theory or whether it had actually been a bunch of computer savvy celebrity addicts that had first got wind of this musical legend's death. As then confirmed by the LA Times, and even later by the Los Angeles coroner, Michael Jackson indeed passed away from a cardiac arrest. I do believe that this is genuinely sad news, MJ was definitely an icon for the 20th Century who did a heck of a lot for music but definitely led an interesting life, it's just a shame that because he has passed the media believes they now have license to re-scrutinize every aspect of his life.
Some people will think I'm a biased fan, this is not the case, but we as the public did not know Michael Jackson, nor can we say he was a good man, or even a great man. Terrible allegations were made, we are all aware of this and the outcome - we do not know why they arose, whether they were dealt with in the correct manner or whether all parties involved were innocent. What we do know is that the US Justice system chose to drop this in 2005, and we are now in 2009. We know it happened, we do not need to desecrate his memory by analysing whether these allegations were true or not, whether there was something wrong with him or not... or any further analysis other than that the Earth has lost someone that we can truly say was a GREAT performer. His music touched everyone, everywhere on some level - he overcame a lot of personal troubles that we are aware of, and he has a family that are mourning his loss. Let's leave it at that.
